In the presence of Mr. Mark Sherringham, Head of the French Schools Department at the French Embassy in the United States, the Consul general named Mrs. Muriel Molinier-Abdoune, French teacher at Coconut Grove Elementary School, in the Order of the French Academic Palms.

Monday, September 21st, was a special day for Muriel Molinier-Abdoune as well as for her colleagues, her family and friends. That day, her teaching expertise and techniques were officially recognized in a ceremony at the Consul general’s home.

Muriel Molinier-Abdoune arrived at Coconut Grove Elementary School in 2008, after working as a Special Ed primary school teacher in France’s public school system. She committed herself to creating a French international studies program and has since developed it with passion and proficiency. A growing number of students now greatly benefit from the courses offered from first grade to sixth grade.

This bestowment is a recognition of her hard work and her personal dedication. Mrs. Molinier-Abdoune wished to share her award, not without emotion, with two teaching colleagues from her team, the administrative staff of the school, and her loved ones.
