A French newspaper has just been launched in Florida
Over several decades ago, in Louisiana, various local French newspapers coexisted. For instance, French speakers could read “La Gazette de Louisiane”, whose latest issue was published 40 years ago.
“Le courrier de la Floride” will provide articles on the topics of society, business and culture, focusing on the Sunshine State and the French community. Designed as a free monthly newspaper, it is available online this summer and will be available very soon in a printed version.
"Nowadays, the Internet makes it possible to reach out to numerous of our fellow citizens who are scattered across the state, and now we have less paper to print than we had to 20 years ago. It makes the newspaper possible", said Gwendal Gauthier and Edgar Nakache, founders of the journal (pics).
In its very first issue “Le Courrier de Floride” gives the floor to our Consul general in Miami, Gaël de Maisonneuve, just before his departure.
