The 100th Tour de France: it starts in Corsica and will be watched in Tallahassee

The world has come a long way since the early 20th century, and the Tour de France is no exception to this, as the 100th anniversary of this internationally recognized competition will be taking place from the 29th of June until the 21st of July. With the support of the Alliance francaise of Tallahassee, the Fermentation Lounge, a brewery and restaurant in Tallahassee, will be just as enthusiastic about this milestone as its French counterparts. It will be hosting a watch party during the entire competition during the hours of 6-9 p.m. via delayed broadcasts on what is known as their Big Ferm Screen.

For anyone who is unfamiliar with the Tour, it is "the" cycling competition, where some of the best cyclists in the world come to France to race their bikes in a nearly 2,115-mile race consisting of 21 stages.
The following breakdown below contains the details surrounding the specific stages to be held during the big event:

  • 7 flat stages
  • 5 hilly stages
  • 6 mountain stages with 4 summit finishes
  • 2 individual time trial stages
  • 1 team time trial stage
  • 2 rest days

The stages will be taking place in different cities, including Porto-Vecchio, Ajaccio, Calvi, Chorges, and Annecy-Semnoz, just to name a few. Corsica, the French island in the Mediterranean Sea, will be the starting point of the competition for the very first time, and the Fermentation Lounge will be there to help their clients watch all of the action, non-stop, until the very end.

There will be 21 teams, each comprising of nine riders from countires that not only include France, but also the United States, Italy, and Spain.

The Fermentation Lounge will be there to ensure that its clients get the ultimate French experience while watching the competition by having French food, beers and wines on their menu.

An especially festive day for the Lounge will be on Bastille Day, which was the day that launched the French Revolution in 1789. This day will be July 14, a Sunday.

Other fun events will be taking place throughout the three weeks of the Tour at the Lounge, as well, with the help of the Capital City Cyclists, the Alliance Française, and some candies from Raley’s Confectionary.

Expect points contests for the days’ stages, as well as the different overall rider classifications, too.
