In Tallahassee, the Ambassador pays tribute to the Franco-Floridian common past and turns to its future

A key ceremony took place on April 25, 2013 at the Florida Historic Capitol Museum during which a first French caucus was launched following the initiative of its now-Chairman State Senator Anitere Flores and co-Chairman Representative Lake Ray. State Secretary Ken Detzner welcomed warmly the French Ambassador highlighting the longstanding relationships between France and Florida. In his turn, the Ambassador Delattre honored these strong ties acknowledging the Franco-floridian history and recognizing the sacrifices made by six American veterans who served on French soil during World War II.

About the French Caucus in Florida

To strengthen the ties between the State of Florida and France, the
Consul General of Miami Gaël de Maisonneuve and the members of the Floridian Parliament in Tallahassee have agreed to create a French Caucus in Florida modeled after the US Congressional one in Washington D.C.
The Floridian French Caucus will be chaired by Republican Senator Anitere Flores and will be co-chaired by Republican Representative Lake Ray.

In his speech, the Ambassador recognized the lead and the support of the French caucus members, the State secretary and the Executive Director of Veterans Affairs who also attended the ceremony.
History, economy, culture and education, in all those fields Florida and France share a common heritage and great values.

Thanks to the launch of the French caucus and the strong will of American and French leaders, France and Florida writes a new chapter.
"In this regard, we have every reason to be very optmistic" stated Ambassador Delattre.
