Christo and Jeanne- Claude at the Lowe Art Museum

From November 10, 2012 to January 13, 2013, the Lowe Art Museum, located on the University of Miami campus in Coral Gables, is presenting " Christo and Jeanne- Claude: Prints and Objects ". The exhibition features over 130 prints and objects by Christo and photographic editions by Wolfgang Volz of works by Christo and Jeanne- Claude, representing more than 40 years of the couple’s artistic career, from 1962 to 2004.

Although Christo and Jeanne- Claude have described themselves as environmental artists, working in both rural and urban environments, they are known for large- scale projects of short- term, reversible interventions in cityscapes and landscapes; their most recent project was "The Gates, Central Park, New York City, 1979- 2005 ".

Many of the pieces in the exhibition relate to Christo and Jeanne- Claude’s large scale projects.

The exhibition will open on November 9th with a lecture at 7pm followed by a reception at 8pm.

The lecture is presented by Jonathan Fineberg, Gutgsell Professor of Art History Emeitus, University of Ilinois, and entitled « Christo and Jeanne- Claude: On the Way to the Gates ».
