Extraordinary voyage at the Miami Beach Cinématheque

Miami Beach Cinematheque presents a music conference event, in collaboration with Emerging Pictures, Miami European Film Festival, and Rhythm Foundation, featuring the Miami HD Digital Premiere of the newly restored and original iconic film "A trip to the moon" by Georges Méliés.

Sourced from a hand-painted color version of Méliès’ masterpiece that had been considered lost for decades, A TRIP TO THE MOON has been fully restored to its original colors and is presented with a new score by the French band AIR.

The film will be preceded by THE EXTRAORIDNARY VOYAGE featuring interviews with Tom Hanks, Michel Gondry, Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Michel Hazanavicus chronicling the journey of A Trip to the Moon from its production in 1902 to the rediscovery of a nitrate print in color in 1993 and its restoration. Also on the program, a French Iranian short film presented by the upcoming European Film Festival in Miami.
