Launched in 1986, the French IS Program developped in South Florida is based on a dual curriculum, American and French,. It goes from Kindergarten to 12th grade.

These institutions are primary or secondary schools that receive public funding (and like other schools, may also receive private donations) but are not subject to some of the rules, regulations, and statutes that apply to other public schools in exchange of specifics results, which are set forth in each school’s charter.
Charter schools are opened and attended by choice. While Charter schools provide an alternative to other public schools, they are part of the public education system and are not allowed to charge tuition.
Some Charter schools provide a curriculum that specializes in a certain field.
A Magnet school is also part of the public school system. Like Charter schools, they welcome children who live outside of zoned school boundaries. They usually focus on specific programs, which makes attending them an attractive choice to many students.
It is the 1rst official diploma a student has to sit. Nonetheless, it is not required in order to enter the lycée.
This exam is organized in Miami during the month of June. ISCHS (International Studies Charter High School) and the International School of Broward (ISB) prepare their students to receive the ’Brevet des colleges’.
IB designates a curriculum as well as a diploma. Like the IS program, IB program emphasizes foreign languages but to a lower level. IB is also called the “Baccalaureate of Genève”.
It is a rigorous academic program designed to offer college-level courses to highly motivated secondary school students. Created in 1955 by the College Board, the AP program is the result of cooperation between secondary schools and American universities.
Each year, secondary schools request authorization to offer AP courses in particular subjects to their students: the College Board, through the AP Audit process, ensures that the courses meet their standards before accepting the syllabus for each course.
The work load in AP courses is heavy and at the end of each academic year in May, students take rigorous examinations. The scores that students achieve on the AP exams (evaluated on a scale between 1 and 5, with 5 being the highest possible score) reflect their degree of mastery of the subjects studied. Most American universities will give students college credits and/or placement into advanced courses in consideration of qualifying scores on the relevant AP exam.
The French-American Baccalaureate is an official French diploma that is recognized by all French higher education institutions and by the American education system .
It has been elaborated in collaboration with the College Board, which guarantees it recognition in American and foreign universities alike.
The French-American Baccalaureate is therefore the combination of the best in American secondary education, namely, the Advanced Placement program in high school, and of the best in French education, the French Baccalaureate, which has achieved worldwide recognition.

The French Baccalaureat is a French national diploma, which is the culmination of a pre-university-level program taken in secondary school. It was created in 1808 and is administered and managed entirely by the French Ministry of Education. The Ministry defines the curriculum and develops and administers the exam.
In the United States, French high schools prepare their students for the baccalaureate in the following series: L (languages and literature), ES (economic and social sciences) and S (mathematics and experimental sciences). The preparation for this exam takes place during the last two years of secondary education (that is, the première and Terminale in French terminology, or 11th and 12th grades in the American system).

Created by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Flam program supports extracurricular initiatives (French language classes and cultural activities) promoting the use of French language.

APEM offers ‘after-school’ French classes in Miami-Dade and in Broward County.
The structured yet flexible program gives the opportunity to French native speakers and non-native speakers to learn and improve their knowledge of French language and culture.

It has been created in 1986 by parents involved in the schools offering the French International Studies program in the south of Miami-Dade.

Created in 2009 by the French Department of Education, it is an exchange program allowing teachers from K to 12 to teach in schools abroad during one school year or more. This strengthens partnerships as well as the academies’ international projects.
